Born in Oshkosh, Sculptor Helen Farnsworth Mears was a self-taught artist whose work appears in some of the country’s most prestegious museums.  Her work, shown at the 1893 World’s Fair is on display in the Wisconsin State Capital and one of her works is on display at the Neville Public Museum in the HerStory Exhibit. The Oshkosh Museum maintains an extensive collection of Mears papers and work.
